Questions… about children’s TV
We’ve been watching a little too much of the magic box around here, I think. Some things I can class as “educational,” like Tad’s favorite shark documentaries or the Food Network shows, but Nick Jr. and PBS really don’t count. Yes, PBS, you are not as educational as you think.
So, here are just some random questions that popped into my head as I was watching some of these shows with Ane and Tad…
– Where are Max and Ruby’s parents? I mean, Grandma stops by often, but why did Ruby have to take Max with her on a Bunny Scouts camping trip? Did Ruby off her parents and hide the bodies? Or is she hiding their accidental deaths from the world in order to keep her single-syllable speaking brother and herself out of bunny foster care?
– Why hasn’t the Man with the Yellow Hat been cited by animal control for housing a monkey? And, more importantly, why do people in New York City think it is normal for a man to dress in yellow all the time, never use his own name, and have a monkey for a pet?
– Kenny the Shark is a fun show, but why does everyone on the show accept that a shark can breathe AIR???
– Olivia, I love you. Really. Although, does anyone else find it strange that an anthropomorphized pig has a pet dog and cat?
– Why can’t there be new Between the Lions episodes? And where did Lionel’s original voice go? I don’t like the new voice actor; he’s throwing me off.
– The kids have gotten hooked on The Powerpuff Girls reruns. Remind me again why we never see Miss Bellum’s face?
Anyone else have questions about children’s TV they want to share?

I always wanted to know why on Nick, they have an adversity to fathers, and on Disney, they have an adversity to mothers… On a majority of the shows on Nick (at least the teen ones) none of the characters have fathers, or you never see the father and they’re mentioned in passing. In Disney, its the mothers that are absent 90% of the time…

Umm, Deanna, I think you need to be around adults more.

Well we can safely assume that the Man with the Yellow Hat Does not live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont,West Virgina, Wyoming; as owning monkey’s as pets is illegal in those states. All others have limited bans on species or allow with or without permits. Then again, they may be Canadian.

There’s only one explanation: euphemisms. For what, depends on your point of view.

I’m pretty sure the man with the yellow hat and Prof Wiseman are having a secret affair.
And the Wiggles . . . I am quite sure the yellow wiggle has some deep dark secret he is concealing with his overly happy smile.
