Tea and Cake Pops

We had yet another birthday party at the American Girl Bistro to attend yesterday…

Our friend Gracie (whose little brother, L., just celebrated his birthday a couple of weekends ago) was celebrating her half-birthday.  Since Gracie, L., and their parents are here on a vacation from their mission field, and L. got a birthday party, it was only fair that Gracie should have a birthday party with friends while they are still here.  Plus, Gracie has the same problem as Ane – they both have late December birthdays.  So she got to have a birthday tea at American Girl with some family and friends.  I took Ane out of school 20 minutes early to make sure we got to the party on time.

However, Ane and I committed a cardinal sin – we forgot her doll, Susan.  And when I realized it, we were walking into the store.  It hit me like a ton of bricks and upset Ane terribly.  We had both completely forgotten to bring her doll.  Ane was able to have a loaner doll, as can anyone who doesn’t have a doll with them, but she was in tears for a bit.  I told her to suck it up – at least she still had her doll at home.  She managed to pull herself together and have a good time.

Tea time was a lot of fun and everyone had a good time.  Gracie got some craft tools from her aunt, some clothes for her doll from friends, and a gift card to American Girl from us.  Plus, the food was tasty and we all got to sing “Happy Birthday” to Gracie.

They are going to be leaving soon, and we’re going to miss them.  Gracie and L. are some of my most favorite kids to know.  I’m just glad that we have a chance to party with them and spoil them a little before they move far away again.
