Art of the Week – Kandinsky Circles

It might be spring break, but fortunately, we are still (mostly) sticking to our normal schedule, which includes art class!

This week was one of the “learn about an artist” lessons, so the class learned about Wassily Kandinsky and his abstract style.  Then they made a piece inspired by the Kandinsky circles.

Circles of art

Gichan asked me if Tad prefers realism or abstract art.  As far as creating it, I think he enjoys the payoff when he makes a piece of realistic looking art (his still life pieces, the landscape, or the polar bear) because when he does it well, it’s instantly recognizable.  But abstract is more freeing, because there are less rules and worries about “making it look right.”

And I know he just enjoys going to class.
