Ane Speaks – at the jewelry store
Saturday was my day to run errands, and to make sure the Webmaster didn’t go mad, I took Ane with me. I had a haircut scheduled, and there were several places I needed to go, including Shane Company, where the Webmaster and I bought our wedding rings. The Webmaster bought me diamond solitaire earrings for my birthday a few years ago, and it was time for their biannual check and cleaning. Since these are the earrings I wear almost all the time, I want to make sure they stay in good shape.
Ane was in a good mood – she loves looking at all the pretty jewelry – and cheerfully accepted a juice box from the salesman helping us out (who also offered me a variety of beverages as well). She asked who had bought me the earrings, and I said, “Daddy did, for my birthday, some years ago.” Then, remembering that Shane Co. has a “trade-in” policy for diamonds, letting you put your current stones toward the price of larger ones, I said, “Maybe for my next birthday, I’ll let him trade these in for bigger diamonds.”
My daughter gave me a funny look. “Why? Are your ears getting bigger?”
The salesman waiting on us nearly cracked a rib trying to keep his professional demeanor intact.
The things that come out of that girl’s mouth…
