Rerun Draws

Last Thursday was Rerun’s kindergarten curriculum night.  Since I missed the open house and the chance to meet his teacher then (the Webmaster took Rerun while I was taking Tad to speech therapy), I went to curriculum night to hear all about kindergarten.

On the bulletin board in front of the classroom were drawings done by the kids, entitled “How I Prepared for Kindergarten.”  Each kid had told Mrs. M one thing they had done, she typed it up and printed them out on sheets of paper, and then the kids had to illustrate their sentence.

This was Rerun’s drawing:

This masterpiece was the illustration for “Rerun played Xbox.”

Seriously, kid???  This is what you came up with for “what I did to prepare for kindergarten”???  Not the books that we’ve read, or the work you did with Auntie all summer?  Nooooo…. you picked the Xbox.  And are playing LEGO Batman, I see.

*sigh*  I try to be a responsible parent, but these kids are determined to make me look bad.

Little Cowgirl did the same thing a year ago. When she had to do a drawing about what she did over the summer, she drew herself watching TV. Not our big trip to Philadelphia and seeing the historical sites or visiting the Gettysburg battle site. Not even the multiple trips to the zoo. I feel your pain.

Sigh. No good parenting goes unpunished…or sometimes, acknowledged.
