Your daughter has spoken

The Webmaster had a meeting late yesterday at church, so I had the kids all evening after dinner. We watched Monsters, Inc. and Baby Boy got to nurse during the movie after I got him into his jammies.

Bedtime rolled around and the Webmaster was still out. So, I got the Munchkin’s teeth brushed and her nightie on, and read to both kids in her room. Baby Boy got the wiggles and went to go raze his sister’s dollhouse while I finished reading to the Munchkin.

Once we were done reading, I tucked the Munchkin in, turned on her music, and promised her that I would come back. I then went and rocked Baby Boy (who was fighting his sleepiness all the way) until he was drowsy enough to not fuss when I laid him down.

I heard the Webmaster come in right after I had gone to “snuggle” with the Munchkin – this is part of her bedtime ritual. One of her parents (preferably me) needs to rub her back and cuddle with her in bed for a few songs from her CD. The Webmaster popped his head in to say good night to the Munchkin. After giving him a kiss, she urgently whispered, “Daddy! Daddy!”

He leaned in over my shoulder. “What is it, sweetie?”

She looked him dead in the eye. “Get out.”

We both broke into smothered giggles at her order and seriousness. “An’ Daddy, close door,” she reminded him as he left.

And don’t let it hit you on the way out, I thought silently to myself.
