Catching my breath

Yesterday ended up being more busy than relaxing, which was fine. We had an outing with Friend, Doc and the boys, which puzzled the Webmaster. It became quite rainy, and we were in an open-air mall. Ane had her rubber boots on, and we trooped along, but the Webmaster asked, “Why do we go outdoors when it’s raining like this, but stay inside on sunny days??”

“Because we’re Seattleites!” I told him.

Today has been relatively quiet, so far. I’m hoping to get a few chores done around here, and remind Ane what the potty is for. We’ve had a sudden, unexpected regression, though a couple of those instances can be linked back to PPT (Poor Parental Training – meaning that a parent forgot to take her to the bathroom before doing something fun/interesting), most of them are simply Ane being too distracted/waiting to the last second to go. A boring day at home will be good for her – and her potty awareness.

Both kids are still fighting the crud, and though I see some light at the end of the tunnel, it is so hard to treat them the way that I would treat myself. Putting anything directly in their noses is a fight, and while they take their meds without fuss, doing anything extra (like saline spray) is a exercise in futility. Staying home today will hopefully give them a chance to get a leg up on this cold – and if I really need more medicines, the Webmaster is going to have to pick them up before he comes home.

And I really need to clean up the debris from my last camp – put my supplies away, and just generally tidy up and reorganize.

So, I guess I’d better get started. If anyone needs me, I’ll be wiping noses and disinfecting the bathroom.

I’d like a day at home like that.
