School Science Project
During her last weeks of school, Ane brought home a science project that they had started in class. The idea was for it to be a kind of homemade Chia pet – except that they used regular grass seed and a little dirt in plastic Easter egg set-up. Once the grass was long enough, they could cut their egg person’s “hair.”
We kept it on Ane’s windowsill and I made sure that it didn’t get overwatered. A couple of weeks later, this was the result:
As you can see, Ane’s egg person was in desperate need of a haircut. Which I provided the kitchen shears for.
Ane was quite meticulous and thorough.
The shearing was quite necessary, as you can see by the carnage.
But Ane was pleased with her science project and can’t wait for the hair to grow again so she can cut it.
Maybe I should hire her to re-seed our lawn in small patches. She seems to have had much more success this way than we did with aerating and overseeding this spring.

What a cute project. Better than the old “bean in a styrofoam cup.”
Good job, Ane!

She’s getting so big! And her hair is long! Maybe she needs a haircut too.
