We need the weekend

It has been impossible to wake up on time recently.

The last few days, the Webmaster and I have been sleeping straight through our alarms and waking up about 15 minutes before Tad needs to be at the bus stop.  It says a lot that Tad has not missed the bus at all this week.

We need the weekend.

Rerun has begun to get into a schedule – he wakes up and nurses before Ane has to be at the school bus.  Then he falls asleep for a morning nap.  I usually nap with him, if I can – sometimes there are things that I absolutely have to get done, so I put the cuddly one in his cradle and work.  He usually begins to wake up when we head out to get Tad off the bus, and then most of the time, he will nurse before we head off to pick Ane up from school.

Depending on how needy he is, Ane will hold him while I make lunch, or he will sleep in the car seat while I make lunch.  By the time Ane and Tad finish lunch, and I eat something, Rerun is usually ready for another meal.  Then it is naptime – sweet, blessed naptime.

After naps, it’s usually only a couple more hours until the Webmaster comes home.  If Rerun has nursed recently and is content, Ane will usually sit with him – this is when she likes to sing to him and admire her cute baby brother.  This allows me to get dinner started, and keep Tad occupied.

Once the Webmaster is home, it means an extra set of hands that can herd older children, hold a baby, change a diaper and finish dinner – or serve it, if it’s already made.

Rerun usually sleeps at night in 3 to 5 hour stretches – his longest stretch begins sometime between 10 and 11 pm, and he will wake up between 2 or 3 am.  Then he wakes up, gets changed, and nurses again.  That whole process usually takes an hour.

No wonder we’re sleeping through our alarm clocks.

But he’s worth it – oh, he is SO worth it.

And hopefully this dose of cuteness will carry you all through the weekend.  🙂
