Party All Night

It might be getting closer to the time that Rerun needs to give up his nap.  Or I just need to start waking him earlier from his nap, or make him run laps before bedtime.  Last night, he clearly did not burn off enough energy between when he got up from his nap and when we tried to put him to bed.

Because the boys share a room, this means that Rerun is keeping Tad awake longer than he should be, especially since only one of them needs to get up to catch a bus in the morning.

Last night, Rerun was bouncing around his crib singing along with the Veggie Tales lullaby CD at the top of his lungs (“Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” at FULL volume – very soothing and relaxing), while I was rubbing Tad’s feet and legs to relax and decompress him.  I needed Tad to be relaxed enough to fall asleep even if Rerun was holding his own mini-concert, which he often can if he is tired enough.  Tad was just on that edge of being “tired enough” and needed a bit of a push – hence, the leg-and-foot rub.

I finally managed to leave the room with Tad drowsy and tucked in, but with Rerun demanding more hugs and kisses from me.  I knew I had to get out of the room because he was just going to keep yelling unless he could no longer see me.  I gave him his last “Mama kiss” of the night and left him still yelling.

He finally did fall asleep, but Tad was out long before that.

I’m not ready for him to give up his nap yet, so I need to find something for him to do to wear himself out in the evenings.  Maybe I’ll have him go collect rocks in the backyard.
