Catching up…

There is a lot going on right now.

First, the Munchkin used the potty again! Yesterday, after her nap. She woke up dry and didn’t protest too much when I put her on the toliet. We negotiated juice and a graham cracker. Apparently, though, she has some performance anxiety because she has not yet peed while I am in the bathroom.

After all, even a two-year-old needs her privacy, right?

Second, she settled down for a nice long nap in the big-girl bed yesterday as well. I actually left her in there while she was still awake (but dead tired after a short snooze in the car on the way back from my Bachan’s place), and when Baby Boy and I went to check on her (he who was NOT napping), she was fast asleep. He and I went into the nursery and I danced a jig, much to his delight. She took a 2 and a half hour nap, and I finally woke her up so that she would go to bed on time.

Third, Baby Boy is doing very well with his cereal. He smacked his lips over each bite tonight, and frankly, he looked somewhat disappointed when it was all gone. I might have to increase his serving size again very soon.

Fourth, we have a long day ahead of us. Friend is bringing the Brain and Head over for a play date/lunch, and then we are going to dinner at Carter’s Mom and Carter’s Dad’s house. We are celebrating the birthday of Handy Girl today (she and Handy Guy will be there and I have made a blueberry swirl cheesecake per her request). And once we are back home, A. and C. will be showing up for “Battlestar Galactica” at 10 pm. I plan on getting the kids in their pajamas before we leave Carter’s Mom and Carter’s Dad’s house, so the Munchkin, at least, can go straight to bed when we get home. We even carry a toothbrush and toothpaste in the diaper bag for her.

Fifth, we have a busy weekend planned. The Webmaster and I are going to a wedding on Saturday. It is at our church and my parents are going as well. Our senior pastor’s daughter is getting married (he is not performing the ceremony). Auntie will watch the kids – the Webmaster will leave his cell phone on “vibrate”, just in case – and I’ll leave her a bottle for Baby Boy and a couple of DVDs for the Munchkin. They’ll be fine. Then Sunday… FOOTBALL!!! Carolina Panthers at Seattle Seahawks!!! We are going to watch and celebrate (hopefully) at Friend and Doc’s place.

If the Seahawks win the NFC Championship Game, this city is absolutely postitively going to explode. It will be 1995, 1997, and 2001 all rolled into one. Those were the years that the Mariners lit the city up. This will go one better.

The Munchkin was trained a long time ago to raise her arms when we yell “touchdown!” Recently, she has started identifying a football as a “fouku-ball.” While it sounds vaguely Japanese, it also sounds slightly obscene.

On that note, I’ll wish everyone a happy weekend. I also want to wish Handy Girl a happy birthday, and the Webmaster’s parents a happy anniversary. Thirty-three years today. Congratulations and thanks for staying married and raising your son up to be the man he is. I’m doing my level best to thank you by raising your grandchildren up right.
