Starbucks wants my money

I was out shopping with the kids yesterday – hey, we found shoes! – and we happened to pass a Starbucks kiosk in the grocery store… which had a big, full-color banner out for their new Blueberries ‘n Creme Frappucino.

Oh, crap.

Fortunately, Ane didn’t see this and I resisted the temptation to buy anything from the Big “S” yesterday. But for crying out loud, what is with them creating new flavors all summer long?? First it was the Orange line – and the Orange Creme was quite tasty, kid-friendly (i.e. no caffeine) and even though it was a little too sweet for anything more than a tall, I thought it was pretty good for the summer.

Then came the Raspberry Mocha Frappucino, which became my new favorite. And now they have the Blueberries ‘n Creme.

I still miss the Blackberry Green Tea Frappucino from last summer.

Do Howard Schultz (Starbucks’ CEO) and his upper management team actually sit around in their corner offices trying to figure out the best and tastiest way to separate me from my cash?

And what does it say about me, that I must resist them when I walk past their kiosks or stores?

So, what’s your favorite drink this summer?

I’m a traditionalist. I always take a decaf Mocha Frappucino in whichever size fits my mood. They used to have a pomegranate one that was good, but alas, it was discontinued.

I’m cheap, so I like the iced brewed coffee. It also actually tastes like, you know, coffee, which is nice. And did I mention it has a 1 as the first numeral of the price??

When it gets cold I always have to have the carmel macchiato. Always a tall unless I’m sharing with Friend (should I call her Wife?). I’m definitely a “sipper” when it comes to coffee.

I always get the pepermint Mocha Frap, even in the summer. My co-workers been getting the coconut mocha.

I tried the orange mocha (not the orange creme), and it tasted like dirty. I was disappointed. /sigh

    Most definitally good though. =D

I told Friend/Wife that I has commented about Starbucks. I’m not making this up: The first words out of her mouth were “Did you say you were cheap?” It’s good to know after 8 years of marriage we understand each other — now it’s time to start finishing each other’s sentences …
