Christmas – Grandma & Gichan’s

After picking up Obachan at her place, we slowly chugged our way through the snow to Grandma and Gichan’s house on Christmas morning. We got stuck at the entrance of their cul-de-sac. Auntie helped me walk the kids to their house, while Gichan rendered aid (and a snow shovel) to the Webmaster to get chains back on the minivan and get the van to the house.

Once we were all there, we just hoped that the power would stay on (it had gone out twice before we arrived) and started opening presents. And, of course, Resiss, Little Cousin and Baby Cousin were there to share in the fun.

I got to cuddle with Little Cousin for a little bit.

Baby Cousin was everyone’s friend that morning, and I managed to snap this picture of her with Obachan.

More Princesses. More Princesses. MORE PRINCESSES!!

Before we went to Disneyland, Gichan said to me: “Buy Tad a coonskin cap and I’ll pay you back for it.” He and Grandma gave it to him on Christmas morning. Tad actually knows the song (thanks to a combination of the classic Disney song and They Might Be Giants’ spoof song with the same melody), and so will wear his coonskin cap (which he alternatively calls a “kitty”) and sing “Da-ee, Da-ee Rockett,” followed by a bunch of jargon, to the tune of the song.

My nieces on Christmas morning. Little Cousin is wearing the pink tutu we gave her (she didn’t take it off until bedtime) and is brushing her teeth with the Princess toothbrush we gave her. (The Barbie was from Gichan.) Resiss said it was the first time in a long time that she didn’t have to fight Little Cousin to brush her teeth because she wanted to use her Princess toothbrush. Aunt Deanna and Uncle Webmaster FTW!!

Eventually, we ate brunch, were all gifted out, and we finally drove Obachan home – and got stuck at her place, and had to dig out and get chains on yet AGAIN. The weather played havoc with us on the 26th, so we were all keeping our fingers crossed for Ane’s birthday party on the 27th. More on that later!
