Rerun Waits For Spring Training

Even in the grip of all this football hoopla, Rerun’s true love is still baseball.  You’d think that a kid as physical as he is would like football or soccer more.  And while he does love those sports (and we even gave him a football for Christmas), if you ask him what his favorite sport is, he’d say baseball.

So the Major and Q-Bee gave him a T-ball stand for Christmas.

And then he started to bug me.  “Mom, can I play ball?  Mom, can I open my box?  Mom, can I play with this?”

My one answer was “OUTSIDE.”  I can’t have him hitting balls off a tee in the house.  Seriously, kid, I’m not stupid.

Finally, the weather was dry enough and there was enough daylight for the box to be opened.  He tried it out with the Webmaster on Monday, while I had Ane out at math tutoring.  Then he asked me if he could “play ball” after school on Tuesday.

He really loves this.  I love that it’s pleasant enough to send him outside to play (even if he is wearing rain boots).  And I love watching him size up the tee and take a swing.

Oh. Gotta get that ball.

He had hit the ball to the other end of the deck and through the rails.  When you have to shag your own balls, it can get a little tiring.  He took a good nap later.

Next year, when he’s old enough (I checked), I think he might be playing some T-ball!
